Use of energy in massive data centres for cloud computing has been a big debatable issue ever since these data centres evolved and major cloud services vendors have been trying to figure out ways to reduce the carbon footprint of these large data storage facilities. That’s the aim of M&S’s new push to recycle old plastic bottles as reported by Business Green adding “The British retailer confirmed today that 300 million garments annually will carry polyester care labels made from recycled PET1 drinks bottles instead of virgin polyester, a material made from oil-based polymers. M&S said it has not calculated how much energy or carbon dioxide the measure will save. The new labels will appear in stores from the start of next year.”
