How to Earn Money for Your Charity By Recycling Used Toner Cartridges?

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Running a used toner cartridges collection scheme can be good way to raise funds. Charities can encourage their donors to send them used toner cartridges instead of donating cash.

Many large charities these days have adopted this idea, receiving used toner cartridges for recycling, but setting up such recycling schemes requires proper planning and lots of management.

One exception to that is GreenTech, a toner cartridge recycling company in the UK, who helps charities set up a used toner cartridge collection program simply by adding a link on their own website. GreenTech have helped hundreds of businesses, schools, charities and individuals to raise hundreds of thousands of pounds when they recycle used toner cartridges.

Make a Donation

In order to setup cartridge collection program with GreenTech’s assistance, all you need to do is simply add a web link (http://www.gtrecycling.com/recycle) on your charity’s website and ask your supporters to donate rather than receive the monies they receive for recycling used toner cartridges. GreenTech pay up to £12 for every used toner cartridge, the highest U.K. prices for recycling used toner cartridges.

GreenTech promises to pay within 14 days of receiving your used toner cartridges through bank transfer or issuing you a cheque, depending on the option you choose. GreenTech also offer a free pick-up service when recycling a minimum of £20 worth of used toner cartridges. For more details about GreenTech’s toner cartridge recycling program you can visit the new recycling website at gtrecycling.com/recycle.

To add a web link on to your website simply paste this HTML code anywhere on your homepage:

How Much Could My Charity Earn From Recycling Inkjet and Toner Cartridges?

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

Many charities see inkjet and laser toner cartridge recycling as a relatively simple way of fundraising. One recent research study found that a medium-sized business can use between 75 and 200 cartridges per year, or even more. So let’s say the fundraising team manages to persuade 10 local businesses to ‘donate’ their empty laser toner cartridges, they can expect about 100 x 10 = 1000 cartridges which at an average of £1.50 would raise funds of £1500.

This calculation, of course, does not include all the empty inkjet and laser toner cartridges individuals could be donating too. But it’s already a pretty significant sum and one that any charity would be happy to accept.
How much do GreenTech pay?

GreenTech have paid thousands of pounds to charities for recycling inkjet and toner cartridges. Even our top recycler in 2010 so far has also been a one-woman charity in Surrey that has been paid £1019.70. Here’s a list of top 10 charities that have been paid for recycling in 2010 so far.

The GreenTech and MedicAid ACTION Charity Partnership

Tuesday, November 30th, 2010

GreenTech International supports a small charity based in Lahore that serves over 800 patients every day with free medical assistance.

The Sethi family from Peterborough (the family who founded GreenTech) established this medical faclity in a poor superb of Lahore in 2008.

In August 2010 the medical facility was moved to a modern converted house and now boosts a pharmacy, 3 doctors and test laboratory with technician. The medical centre currently serves around 800 people every day and as well as providing free doctor’s appointments they also test blood and dispense free medicines to poor families in an ever-increasing catchment area. Health education has a critical role to play in the well-being of the families that visit the medical centre and the team are developing new ways to tackle this problem. We will report on the progress of the education programmes soon.

I will be updating this page to provide more information about the work of the medical centre and charity over the coming months. If you have any questions in the meantime please don’t hesitate to contact me via email on paul (at) gtrecycling.com or via telephone on 01733 588 388.

We hope that many recyclers will be able to donate a portion of the amount they can claim for recycling their printer cartridges to MedicAid ACTION.

GreenTech will match every donation with an equal amount that will be directed immediately to help fund the Medical Centre.

MedicAid ACTION is a U.K. registered charity, no. 1131335

Running a printer cartridge recycling and collection scheme can be a time-consuming business.

It can be a bit messy too. When recycling and packing up the old printer cartridges sometimes the ‘not-quite-empty’ inkjet and toner cartridges can leak. It’s OK when it’s a small number of cartridges, every now and then, but if you are running a big collection scheme for your school or charity then it can be quite a pain.

We think we’ve come up with the answer to these problems and instead of encouraging you to run a collection scheme yourself we suggest you simply encourage your supporters to send their cartridges direct to us.

Simply by promoting our inkjet and toner cartridge recycling scheme on your charity and school website, and in your email newsletters, fund-raisers can generate the same amount of funds but without any of the hassle.

We arrange free courier pick-up from all your supporters, be they from parents, friends or local companies.

All you need to do is add a link on your website and emails to our website here http://www.gtrecycling.com/recycle .

Your school or charity will get paid the full amount that your supporter donates. All they need to do is fill in the form on our website, with your organisation’s name and we take care of the rest. You can also easily add this link to your Facebook Fan Pages/Linked-in profiles, even your blog, Twitter pages and more.

We’re a small but growing toner and inkjet cartridge recycling company in Peterborough and are having a big year since launching our online recycling cash calculator, on our website here; http://www.gtrecycling.com/recycle .

Our recyclers are saying nice things about the website since we display an ‘instant’ price we pay for their empty cartridges. And my colleagues here on the GreenTech Recycling Helpdesk are doing a good job organising free pick-up of their cartridges and then sending payments to all our recyclers and charities/schools within 14 days.  (more…)

Easy fundraising for schools and charities

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

Many Schools and Charities see inkjet and laser toner cartridge recycling as a relatively simple way of fundraising. One recent research study found that an average school can use 300 printer cartridges per year. So say this school got paid an average of £1.50 per recycled empty cartridge they could then raise £450 just from their own school’s office printers. A medium-sized business can use between 75 and 200 cartridges per year, or even more.

So lets say the school fundraising team manages to persuade 10 local businesses to ‘donate’ their empty laser toner cartridges, they can expect about 100 x 10 = 1000 cartridges which at an average of £1.50 would raise funds of £1950. This calculation, of course, does not include all the empty inkjet and laser toner cartridges parents could be donating. Butit’s still a pretty significant sum and one that any PTA or charity would be happy to accept.
